The Nevada Dental Association advocates on behalf of its association members with legislators, regulators, and other partners. Working closely with our association members, and under the guidance and oversight from NDA leadership and member-led councils, the NDA works on a host of oral health issues ranging from scope of practice to accessing care.  

The NDA is committed to supporting efforts that ensure Nevada citizens have access to good oral health care. We know that this is a constant challenges and in order of us to be successful, we need your help. Contact the NDA office to learn more about the different ways member dentists can get involved in the legislative process.

FDA & ADA Stance on Amalgam

On Thursday, September 24, 2020, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued updated guidance stating that dental amalgam may cause health problems for some high-risk groups, especially those with hypersensitivity to mercury. The update reinforced that amalgam is safe for most, but recommended some patients to avoid the material. More

Jason R. Doucette, DMD becomes President of the Nevada Dental Association

Dr. Jason Doucette has been elected president of the Nevada Dental Association (NDA), the state’s doctors of dentistry and oral-health professionals organization. The NDA provides services that promote the highest standards of care for patients and professional excellence through education, leadership, and provider and patient advocacy.

"I am honored and humbled to take on this most meaningful role at the NDA, an organization which exemplifies ethics and standards of dentistry," said Dr. Doucette. “I’m excited to help lead the association to better help our member dentists succeed and unify Nevada’s oral-health professionals.

Dr. Doucette was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. After graduating from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1995, Dr. Doucette went on to earn his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from Oregon Health Sciences University in 1999. Dr. Doucette returned to Reno shortly after to begin his career in dentistry. As one of Nevada’s leading doctors of dentistry, Dr. Doucette has practiced dentistry for nearly 23 years. Dr. Doucette is known for specializing in smile revitalization through the use of technologically-advanced surgical and restorative cosmetic dental procedures and innovative sleep-health technology. Doucette succeeds Dr. Ed De Andrade, a Las Vegas based specialist in periodontics and dental implantology, whose term as NDA president ended on June 30.
